The spotlight falls on the “Underground” hitmaker today. Yes, today UGMB profiles C Starz. Sit back, relax and get to know C Starz.
The name is Cyril Samuel Lartey but for the purpose of ministration Cyril is known as C Starz. C Starz represents the light, since stars are responsible for illumination. Therefore the name represents an artiste whose aim is to shed a bright light unto the darkness.
Cyril was born in Tema and stayed in community 7 till he recently moved to Sakumono. He started basic education at Creater School in Community 4 and continued and completed primary education at the Angels Specialist School also in Tema. He then went on to the Presbyterian Boys’Secondary School in Legon for his secondary education.
C Starz had always loved to sing but it was in senior high school that he realised that he had the talent for composition of music as well. Cyril is currently in his final year at the University of Ghana reading Food Process Engineering and keeping the music ministry fully alive.
Cyril started active urban gospel music in 2015 when he released his first demo titled “Impossible” and he has been active ever since. “I was primarily inspired by the grace and mercies that God had shown me to do music to praise Him. Powerful ministers such as lecrae, Kingskid, Cwesi Oteng, Regardless, Malonzy, Akesse Brempong, Fuimen, Subby Dave and many others were all great inspirations to me to be involved in Urban Gospel”.
Cyril can sing and rap as well. “I would describe myself as a versatile artist because not only do I sing but I rap as well”. Cyril also likes to try out different genres such as AfroPop, Pop, Hip Hop, Dance and even contemporary gospel.
C Starz has a mission. “My mission in ministry is Ephesians 5:12 But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsover doth make manifest is light. Amen”. So Basically C Starz wants to shed light upon what is considered darkness in the world through music, that people may have a renewal and transformation of their minds and accept Jesus as their Lord and Personal Savior.
Songs C Starz can be associated with include “Impossible”, “Underground” and “Hold On”. He was however featured in SMS to Jesus 2 (All star version), “The Reason (Kojo Asante of Fiumen, C Starz, Subby Dave)” and “Quantify” by Eigenpraiz. C Starz has faith that urban gospel will have a very strong presence in Ghana and reach people far and near and he would be humbled to be a part of making this vision a reality.
C Starz has a message for his fans. “To my fans, I’d like to say a very big thank you for the support so far and I pray for you all that you may never lack anything in life. Keep on being blessed by the songs and keep on Sharing. God bless You all.Much love, C Starz”.
